Enhancing Sports Performance
Enhancing sports performance is the goal of most athletes. The areas which an individual can address when attempting to improve sports performance fall into three main categories: psychological, physiological, and biomechanical. At Oliveri Physical Therapy, we can address the physiological and biomechanical aspects of sports performance.
Some of our intervention includes:
Screening/Measurement of: flexibility, strength, cardiovascular fitness, joint and muscle balance, and the need for bracing and supports.
Strength training: Helping athletes select the correct exercises to improve strength in key muscles. Exercise prescription involves not only the type, but also the frequency, duration, and intensity of exercise.
Speed and endurance training: We have assisted several athletes in their endeavors to improve running, swimming, and cycling speed and endurance. Along with all of the techniques mentioned earlier, we also address endurance and speed programs. Our therapists have competed in numerous triathlon, duathlon, and running events. Depending upon your event, a training program must address not only the volume of exercise you do, but also the specific combinations of speed, intensity, duration, and rest cycles. |
