Cumulative Trauma Disorders

THE PROBLEM:  Cumulative Trauma Disorders (Tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and others) represent a major problem to employers

Cumulative Trauma Disorder (CTD) costs employers and employees an incredible amount of dollars, human suffering and frustration.

CTD claims can cost tens of thousands and even hundreds of thousands of dollars per case. CTD is generally thought to be an incurable disease. It represents a growing epidemic, a product of manufacturing modernization. It cannot be cured but it can be prevented.

This CTD epidemic presents employers with major frustration. The search for a single cause for each case is usually fruitless. The search for a successful CTD prevention program has been fruitless...............until now.

CTD CAN be prevented. We have a highly successful program for CTD elimination in the workplace.

THE CTD ELIMINATION PROGRAM

The CTD (Cumulative Trauma Disorders) elimination program is comprised of three modules. These modules are specifically designed to fit the uniqueness of your work environment.

 JOB SITE ASSESSMENT

Identifies all the CTD risks present in the workplace. The job site assessment provides the information necessary to develop a serious comprehensive attack on CTD problems as they exist in the workplace. This assessment is provided by an industrial physical therapist who is highly trained in workplace ergonomics and musculo-skeletal injury.

MANAGEMENT TRAINING

A comprehensive seminar for managers and supervisors to make them expert in identifying and eliminating CTD risks in their work areas.

This is a three to four hour seminar that makes managers and supervisors medical ergonomic experts on CTD as it exists in their work areas. They will learn the physiology of CTD, all of the various causes of CTD, medical issues, social issues, and human behavior issues.

The managers and supervisors will be guided through the findings of the Job Site Assessment. They will learn the specific mechanisms for CTD elimination. The education and motivation they receive will enable them to take appropriate responsibility for eliminating CTD. A detailed workbook will be provided

EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION

A program of simple fitness skills and attitude development.

In this 90 minute module, the employees are not trained in CTD. Rather, they are motivated to accept responsibility for taking care of their upper body and/or their back. The employees are taught to regard themselves as professional industrial athletes who must have a body that is fit for the job. This is a very positive, dynamic and educational experience for all participants.

The employees are trained how to work smart. They learn how to work in ways that preserve their body so that they may enjoy life outside of work. Employees learn techniques to reduce work fatigue, improve their work performance, and how to take care of their most valuable possession, their own body.
